Membership is open to anyone who identifies as a Friend called to ministry in an area of pastoral care or counseling. We define "pastoral care" broadly, to include professions such as chaplaincy as well as ministries of alternative healing and committees of Ministry & Counsel. "Counseling" may include pastoral psychotherapists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, other mental health professionals, as well as spiritual directors, and may include Friends who offer Couple Enrichment and similar growth and healing opportunities for couples, meetings, groups, families, or individuals. In addition, some health care professionals (e.g., hospice doctors and nurses) may have significant pastoral care components in their work with patients. If you want to belong, you can.
Benefits of Membership:
Beginning in Fall 2007, members whose dues are current have the opportunity to participate in toll-free quarterly conference calls that we're calling Quarterly Meetings for Extending the Spirit. Each call will have a query or set of queries for Friends to address. We hope that this will meet Friends' expressed need to stay connected and enjoy some that treasured QPCC spiritual refreshment between meetings.
As always, members receive notification of our annual conference with its opportunities to participate in a loving community, build friendships with professionals who share our values, and attend stimulating and refreshing presentatons.
In the future we hope to be able to develop a directory of members to help Quakers across the country connect with Friends who offer psychotherapy, spiritual direction, retreat leadership, alternative healing modalities and so on. Please stay posted.
To Join:
You can join by sending your dues (check made out to ESR, with "QPCC" on the memo line) and the information below to Jennifer Everly, 2746 W Jacinto Cir., Mesa AZ 85202. Or you can join when registering for the annual conference. We encourage you to join now: receiving your dues provides us with needed funds to send out the conference mailing, pay for Steering Committee conference calls (which is how we hold our meetings between annual conferences), pay our few expenses, and make deposits for conference accommodations. In addition, as a dues-paying member, you have access to the QPCC Yahoo list serve. Beginning 2009 memberships will be associated with the calendar year with dues to be paid by January 15, 2009.
